Did you know that gum health has a direct impact on overall oral health? Healthy gums contribute to faster movement of teeth and lead to a more favorable outcome of orthodontic treatments. This month we want to highlight the importance of gum health. If you are struggling with your gum care, please reach out to our team as soon as possible.
One of the most common gum-related issues observed in patients is Inflammation with braces due to inadequate brushing near gum line. Reddening and swelling below brackets are also early signs of gum disease that you should be looking out for.
To maintain good gum health, it's recommended to brush twice a day using a Sonicare toothbrush and to use water floss daily. We recommend a Sonicare toothbrush and WaterPik specifically because they are both excellent products that we have seen positive results with.
If you are struggling with your brushing, let us know and we can help demonstrate it. We also give each of our patients the opportunity to brush their teeth at every appointment with wires removed to enable complete brushing and flossing.
